The Brief

Working across Dorset, Wiltshire, and Hampshire, Papps Cock & Co is a residential and commercial construction company, specialising in high-end construction projects. Papps Cock & Co offers a range of services that include construction, refurbishment, and renovation from new builds, home extensions, gardens, and outbuildings to office refurbishments and leisure or retail renovations.

As a relatively new company, Papps Cock & Co needed to create and build a recognisable brand to help establish themselves in the market to enable them to grow their customer base. They approached Digital Storm to help them create, define and deliver a comprehensive brand strategy.

Our response

The creative team was tasked with building the company’s brand, which comprised of:

  • Determining the target audience.
  • Positioning the business and its service.
  • Defining the company’s personality.
  • Creating a logo and strapline.

Initial research was undertaken to understand the market that Papps Cocks operate in, their competitors and where the company is to be positioned. Customer insights were reviewed – creating clear customer profiles in the residential and commercial spaces.

Digital Storm then worked with Papps Cock to articulate the brand values, tone of voice and personality to ensure the brand shone through in all communications.

The introduction of a cockerel was a requirement to ensure that the brand stood out and was different but also showed a personal connection with the Papps Cock name which was derived from a combination of surnames from the Directors or the business.

A clear visual identity, logo and tagline were created that reflected Papps Cock commitment to quality, high standards and professionalism. The logo was designed to be simple, clean and professional. The brand icon of the cockerel was created to show Papps Cock commitment to making a fresh start, doing things differently and focusing on quality. Atag line was also created to help qualify the brand; succinctly expressing what Papps Cock do and how they do it.

Following the launch of the brand, the next step was the design and development of a website. The website showcases the company; the services that they provide and the sectors that they work within. The website needed to give the right impression of the company to its target marketing and showcase the vision of the company going forward.

This web project was very design-led, with our designers focusing on producing a digital ‘journey’ with the site that offers an intuitive user experience whilst educating users and allowing them to take action easily and efficiently. The website needed to provide a strong
corporate feel with correct messaging as well as visual appeal to target the different audiences and educate them to navigate through to the correct areas and services for them i.e. Commercial or Residential.

Results

When Choice Care first approached us, they told us that 60% of the website’s aim was to drive recruitment. We ran a recruitment campaign on Facebook which achieved some impressive results. Choice Care’s Facebook ads delivered over 260,000 impressions and generated 5,264 clicks to the website.

In their first year, social media accounted for a third of website traffic acquisition.

Choice Care didn’t want to focus solely on recruitment, 40% of the new websites aim was to increase private care enquiries. Digital Storm launched a Google Ads campaign to promote and showcase their services. This campaign achieved an average click-through rate of 8.35%, almost triple the industry standard of 3.27%

SEO was a big part of this campaign. The Digital Storm team did thorough keyword research to identify the terms and phrases that people were searching to find Choice Care’s services. We then created content for new blog posts and web pages targeting these keywords.

Organic search, thanks to our keyword research and page optimisation, accounted for 20% of website traffic acquisition in the first year.
